Girl Holding a Gun: Not Funny, Not Cute
Note to readers: This is not meant to be funny. I am not being sarcastic.
I found this picture posted with captions such as “go ahead, make my day” and “I said I wanted wedding cake, now!”. Fine, it might be a little bit cute or funny, but overall I find this picture completely and utterly disturbing.
I am torn as to whether children should have access to play weapons. On one hand, squirt guns, bows and arrows and plastic swords are fun to play with. I had them as a child and I didn’t grow up to be a gun wielding nut.
On the other hand, this gun looks decidely real. If this little girl came across a real gun (which does happen), I don’t think she’d know the difference.
If this gun was in the hands of an adult who was robbing a store and I was the clerk, I’d give up the money without a second thought. Yes, I can see that the tip of the gun is plastic, that it is likely a squirt gun. I know, I know, I’m just saying.
I think I’ll stick to brightly colored squirt guns as my daughter is growing up and not gun colored like the one pictured here.

I agree with you, melissan. Kids have been killed by police officers unable to tell it was a toy gun (I think they’ve been made illegal in some places) and it sets a bad precedent.
Babies with guns. There are a lot of shattered parents out there who know how much of a joke it isn’t.
I think that I laugh and learn on many other things, this is not one of them. I have no intention of GTFO. TY. Notice the obnoxious comments are from anonymous people?
